Black Spirituality: Spiritual Downloads and The Collective Unseen is a short film program that analyzes the metaphysicality and nuance often found in what is considered the “Collective Black Consciousness”. Pulling from an ethos shared by works like Toni Morrison’s Beloved to John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme to Julia Dash’s Daughters of Dust, The films within this program deconstruct and put image to the idea that Black spirituality often differs in practice between individuals, but often arrives at the same ancestral and recollected end.

Sabrina Ford (she/her/hers) is a visual artist and independent curator born and raised in the Twin Cities. With a strong gravitation towards experimental filmmaking and carrying a research-based practice, the main intersections within her work are centered around black existentialism, new media, and dream analysis through film. Her curatorial practice is rooted in representation and providing spaces for artists to feel supported. Focusing particularly on black film in a personal and intimate context. (I.e: Diary, experimental, suggestive, documentary) Her goal is to create environments for others that are reflective of the people who occupy them and to create networks where none reside.
